Paul,
>It is the "Based On" box in the "New Data Environment Class" window. Where did "testappenvironment" come from? Also, in the "Add Data Access" window, how did the "Testapp Data" get listed under the Database drop-down? As mentioned in my inquiry, my views are not listed under "Views in Database". I see no where to tell it to use the Generic dbc or mine. ****Therefore, my views are not listed in that window****. So, I can not assign one of my views to the DE in that step.
Right...there's more involved with creating data environment classes than with other classes. What I'm recommending that you do is create a temporary project first...I realize this project won't contain your changes yet, but you need it to follow the steps I've outlined in my previous message.
Within this test project you will be able to create tables/views and data environment classes which you can then copy over to the Generic project. After copying the new data environment classes over, when you change the parent class (using VCX Editor) the classes will point to the Generic database instead of the temporary applicaiton database.
