This should be a trappable error (it is, but only AFTER you hit Cancel on the dialog), but I need to run this stuff in COM objects and web servers with no user to react to an interface.

Bruce,
You can check the existence. For flat files there is file() and database tables dbobjects(), dbgetprop('SourceName'...), dbgetProp('Path'...)
