Perry;
Great story! My sister-in-law lives in North Hollywood. We sometimes go to Mel’s on Riverside. Often there will be a line waiting to get in and many of the people in line know each other and work at the studios. “Joe, is there anything happening at your studio? Our picture is almost finished and I am looking”!
Network, network, network! Tell your barber, and anyone else you talk to you are looking for a job and what you do. I have business cards made up for this.
Your recruiter and user group came through. You recruiter sounds like a human with a heart.

>Stories like yours make me feel really lucky I got this gig. I got it thru a recruiter I've been using for years, mostly for foxpro work in the entertainment industry. I quit calling her a couple years ago as I tried to branch to other technologies. Soemone suggested I call her this summer, during my unemployment period. She got me an interview and 2 days later was the VFP user group. When I asked at the user group I was told about this job. I know the hiring person was pissed I came thru a recruiter and not the user group. Anyways, the recruiter did tell me she negotiated her fee to almost half so I could get hired.
