Hi All,

It seems we have the need to find an application (since my "To Do" stack is nearly as tall as me nowadays) that would provide a tracking mechanism for problems and tasks that my MIS department is responsible for supporting.

Right now we use our own custom Alpha 5 database appp (yeah they developed it before I was hired)as a phone call log. Plus we have other mechanisms in email and shared network drives where we all report on the problems and issues we are working on. So we hope to consolidate these things into one app that would make our support personnnel function more efficiently as a helpdesk.

We're looking at Intersolv PVCS Tracker 5. This is a nice intranet/internet database app (products supported stated as dBase 5, SQL Server, Oracle, Sybase). It wasnt exactly designed as a helpdesk management app but since its completely customizeable we see ways to make it do what we need. I like it because since its a browser app, we could set it up so that users could report a problem themselves, without making a phone call. I dont like it because it looks to be done in PB (yeah so I'm predjudice ;) )

Anyone out there familiar with the Intersolv line of PVCS apps that could give me some useful feedback? Any other type of helpdesk management app I could look at? TIA
