Hi,
Some thoughts on VS.NET ...
I've been a FoxPro developer since 2.6 and a VFP developer since 3.0. In the last year and a bit, I've become proficient in VB - I bought some good books, put my nose to the grindstone and ended-up developing a few VB-Access and VB-SQL apps.
Prior to the last two weeks, I hadn't done any web development whatsoever. During the last few weeks, I've basically locked myself in my study and immersed myself in VS.Net (Beta 2) - specifically VB.Net and ADO.NET.
I can't believe how easy it is to develop Web Apps with this toolset - especially for someone with VFP and VB6 knowledge! I don't think the learning curve will be all that much for VFPers - especially if I can figure it out :-)
In the space of two weeks, I have developed a fully-functional prototype of a Web App that will likely replace an on-line reporting app that our organization currently uses. I populated my app with 4 million records into a SQL Server 2000 database for testing purposes and it works like a charm.
In my opinion, .NET is going to revolutionize web development.
