I have:

1. An XP PC loaded with MSDE, Visual Studio, VFP7, etc.
2. A W2K PC
3. SQL Server 2000 on CD

How/where do I install SQL 2000 to be able to use the XP box as a workstation/development machine, network to the W2K box and access SQL databases as a backend to VFP apps? What else do I need to do after I establish a network between the 2 machines? What exactly does MSDE do and if I have SQL 2000 do I need it?

If it seems I'm being obtuse it's because I've only worked with SQL as a backend at places that already had it installed.

Any information and resource would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Regards, Renoir
