I must be one of the lucky ones then! 3 out of 4 of my last jobs resulted in telecommuting after I had been on-site for awhile. I have had 2 strictly telecommuting jobs as well. I guess the driving factor has been that I have taken on contracts that were far enough away that there was - along with my work ethic - a good enough argument to not have to work on-site. Another way to get "telecommuting" jobs is to get some independent contracts and just work at home. You would be surprised at how many small to medium business couldn't care less where and how something is created as long as it does what they want.
