Rick,

First thing is that you are incorrect when you say that Rushmore doesn't work for SELECT, it does if there are indexes that match the criteria. So create all the index tags needed to optimize your WHERE clauses. Then use select to get your data and it will be fast. 100,000 is not a large numer of records at all for VFP and Rushmore.

If your SELECTs are not fast enough then come here and ask for advice on how to optimize them.
