I have 2 client installations each of which has a permanent connection to th router. I want to supply them both with the same app but with the data files in only one location.

All machines are running Win2k and their networks are connected to the Web via routers.

I have been told that VPN is the answer but for that I need to know the IP address of the pc I am trying to connect to. If I run ipconfig on the pc I am trying to connect to I get my assigned ip address ie 192.168.254.200 with a default gateway of 192.168.254.254 (the router address). I need to have static ip addresses within each installation.

How can I discover the correct address to connect to or does someone have a better way of remote networking? I use pcAnywhere for file transfer & support.

Thanks
