Do you have a BROWSE active at the same time?
A browse which is refreshing itself will change the selected alias automatically. VFP is also susceptible to this with bound controls. This really causes major headaches.
If so, you can hide the window first
HIDE WINDOW
Do
SHOW WINDOW
or something similar
