When technology gets "easier" and requires less skill, the guru's always want to think "the world will end" because their skills will no longer be valued.
All that happens is that skills change and new guilds appear- such as engineers to service the Spinning Jennies.
IMHO we should all expect a complete change in our careers in the next few years. IMHO we'll be doing a lot more work from home and will have two or more jobs blending technical, creative and people skills. For many of us this will alter "work" as a socialising force which is probably the most significant effect, taking us back to cottage industries where small communities merge home and workplace... but I digress...

"... They ne'er cared for us
yet: suffer us to famish, and their store-houses
crammed with grain; make edicts for usury, to
support usurers; repeal daily any wholesome act
established against the rich, and provide more
piercing statutes daily, to chain up and restrain
the poor. If the wars eat us not up, they will; and
there's all the love they bear us."
-- Shakespeare: Coriolanus, Act 1, scene 1
