First of all, does anyone know of a better forum for Crystal Reports help than the Crystal Decisions web site? It seem questions similar to mine have been asked numerous times with no response. Nice support. Now, on tot he problem..
My app has linked images - I store only the file name in my table. When calling my CR reports, I use the Fox2x type, copying my query results to fox2x tables. I also copy the image, if it exists. Otherwise, I copy a generic image. The actual images are JPG, with some slick manipulation and some help from some peopel here, I have a routine which converts them into a properly sized BMP. At least, when viewed in any normal imaging application, like the Picture Viewer in WinXP, or Paint Shop Pro. They appear to be the correct size, and viewing the properties in Paint Shop Pro shows the image size to be about 2x3 inches, which is just what I want. However, if I insert this image as an OLE Linked Bitmap in Crystal Reports, it displays as TINY. Not icon size, I'm not checking the 'display as icon' option, but something like .3x.4 inches. Any attempt to resize it results in stretching and distortion. It DOES, however, perform as a propely linked object - if I change the picture, what is shown in the report changes.
If I use Insert,Picture, it shows up as the proper size, but of course it is not a linked object, and changing the ontents of the file does not change what is displayed.
I found some VB sample code on the Crystal Decisions site that allows access to various methods to load the picture at runtime, but I don't undertsand it. If this is a way to accomplish what I need, fine, but what I don't understand is how I set a picture in the report and then reference that object. Or is it super obvious, which is why I can't see how to do it, in that the first image inserted on the report in Picture1, etc.?

Thanks,
Randy
