I was in the same situation as you are. I had to use smartpd in an FPDOS application without any documentation. The original company is now known as Peak Software. I did track them down and spoke to the actual developer who said he was going to look for the docs. That was several months ago (maybe a year ago). He never seemed to find them. I probably have the name and number somewhere, if you'd like I will look for them.

In the meantime, I looked at the source for the old Stonefield Data Dictionary for FP 2.6 and it uses smartpd. I just "copied" the code that Doug put in there to use smartpd and it worked like a charm.
