>As for XP, well, that one is an old story. Remember what Steve Gibson wrote last year about that. He also had a conference call with MS but they didn't listen to him. After the release, it was seriously confirmed by several parties that it does have a security issue that needed to be fixed.
I still think everything Steve said about XP is bogus. His whole argument is "the ability to utiltize a function of IP is good for Windows 2000 and Linux computers but not something that consumers should have" and it stinks. Steve's paranoia is foolsish and his solution was even stupider. Take away a PC's feature because it can be misuesed when other security mishaps occur? That would be like demanding that MS removed the ability to delete files from a hard drive, or send emails from a computer because another security violation make take advantage of that.
More importantly, Steve's request was emotionally driven, if you remember correctly, this all came up because someone attacked one of his servers and he had to spend time securing it. Ironically, he was attacked cause he said something about negative the "script kiddies" who orchestrate such attacks. He made good points about the ISPs being essentially evil, but other than that, he's full of himself.
