Paul, I just read the rest of your message and I missed the part about you logging in as administrator and trying it. That is the equivalent of RUN AS and trying the RUN AS won't make any difference. I would make sure that the administrator account is not a member of EVERYONE and that no changes were made to the account. Verify the rights/groups/etc with another XP machine if you can or create a new account and manually add full rights to everything (don't just make it a member of admin group). Make sure you remove the standard groups new accounts are added to like domain users and everyone; BUT remove those groups AFTER you add in all of the rights (you don't want to lock it out in the process). If none of this works, I'm lost. Maybe someone else will come with some suggestions since I've noticed there seem to be a lot of problems installing sp1 posted on this forum today! At least it appears that you are NOT alone!
