Did someone turn off the box without executing 'shutdown -h now' or 'halt'?
Looks like you are missing some boot scripts/files under /etc/init.d. Someone messing around as root and accidently delete stuff?
It also looks like your Advanced Power Management deamon won't start.
First thing I'd try is booting as a single user and then log to root and check out /etc/init.d/ to see what's missing, and if apmdd is ok.
Perhaps restoring the boot files by editing /etc/lilo.conf to make sure it is ok, and then run lilo to restore the boot files.
