It has large impact on developers in the simple regard that it stifles dramatically the "VFP is DEAD" rumour, making consideration of VFP a reality again without stealth-like manoeuvres/dances.
>

Having to market VFP within MS stifles these rumors? The issue of "VFP being dead" is beside the point. The real issue is that the underlying architecture that VFP is premised, which includes other tools like VB 6, Delphi are part of the past. This is not to say that people cannot use the tools today and be productive. However, it would also be fair to say that such tools do not define the state of the art as they once did.

I think it's sad too and have been saying so for years. The earplugs were in then. And it has changed. Omission rates are much lower. as I see things, and some that are posted now are of the trivial nature or the really didn't belong nature.

If the message is getting through, then you will see real innovations in the product. There will not be a need for people to send Ken email that VFP has been omitted...

Yes, and this is where I worry that Ken may face an impossible battle. Kinda like Monaco taking on China. The numbers themselves will be overwhelming.

So on one hand, the message appears to be getting through as far as the internal marketing efforts are concerned. On the other hand, marketing to the outside world is a lost cause. I would say the latter is far more important and telling than the former...

Was this "summit" a first? If so, then at least we were seen. Better than the invisibility of the past.
>

It was not the first, but it was the most publicized. As for being seen, yes - that goal was accomplished. As for anything over and above that - the public comments of some others to the contray, I don't think much else was/will be accomplished.

>
Well at least Ken replies to things. Before the best we had was Craig B. answering 'for' Mr. Green. And at least Ken acts on much of what comes his way. If he says he will, he does.

You make it seem as if nothing happened on Robert's watch. Nothing could be further than the truth. VFP 6 was a big upgrade and that did occur on Robert's watch.

As for the public presence, again, I would caution reading too much into that.
