Black Hawk down is an excellent movie. Pure action that is driven by a good story. No distractions of character development are needed. Great filming. What is interesting is that this isn't a patriot drum thumping movie, despite what the trailers may suggest. Strangely for a hollywood film, it is a tradegy. Much like I thought Pearl Harbour should have been. Also the movie is an ensemble with no obvious main character or characters. Works well.
I had hear of this incident, but wasn't aware (for some reason) that it ended the US occupation of Somalia. I think this movie can be ranked with Apocolypse Now and Saving Private Ryan.
