Don't you think the real HGF will be pissed when he finds out you submitted an article using his name? < gd&rvvf >

Seriously, the blanket statement about dBASE/Fox apps being "dogs" was amusing. He seems to think that the product an app was created in, rather than the app itself, is what's important. Clearly not a "use the best tool for the job" kind of guy... hey, some VFP developers have been accused of that as well...

I also get a chuckle thinking how his clients will react, to being categorized as "dogs" or "cash cows"...

"Microsoft won't waver in its commitment to .NET technology as the new standard—you can be sure of that." Got my best belly laugh from that one. Sure - until the Next Big Thing comes along. MS has a long history of introducing, then dropping "standards".

"Compatibility and standards are almost everything in this new age, and you're either "compatible" or you aren't." Bullshit. Compatibility is and always has been useful and in some circumstances necessary but it is not the most important thing, let alone "almost everything".

The whole article was just a bunch of platitudes exhorting developers to move on to new tools. That has advantages and disadvantages... I'd submit that few understand that better than Fox developers.

So in conclusion, it's nothing we haven't heard before...
