Gaylen,
There sould be a "hosts" file in \winnt\system32\drivers\etc\ . it should have something like as follows:
127.0.0.1 localhost

>Yes I tried restarting IIS.

>When I click on localhost.com which is a url on the "cannot find page" error page it goes out to a site called localhost.com. The web site said I probably got there because of an error and described my problem as probably a miss-configuration of local DNS server. They indicated that I should place a record in my DNS tables for a localhost in my local domain with the address 127.0.0.1.
>
>However they did not say how to do this. I looked all through the help files and found nothing.

>Incidently, Saturday morning Comcast converted my Excite cable connection over to their system. As a result I now have a new ip address, but would not think that should affect the localhost connection.
>
>I have thought about reinstalling IIS - however, I am concerned about losing all my current virtual directories that I have set up.

>>>
>>>I am using window xp professional.

>>>Thanks
