The LJ1200 and similar printers are what are referred to as WinPrinters; they rely on the GDI of the host PC to process the page graphic image, which can place a considerable burden on the CPU, and may well leave the CPU in an inconsistent state periodically as a result of graphical output. I'd suggest trying a printer which has it's own graphics engine built in internally rather than relying on the CPU for service; unfortunately, this means spending a bit more on the printer.
