JVP is correct that MS having declared dotNET as "the" way, VFP has to be assessed according to those rules and its abilities considered in dotNET terms. Without CLR membership we have a credibility problem.
A cynic might observe that if you redefine Baseball so that left-handers are no longer allowed to play, many current stars will be relegated to the benches. To present that as a story about the players or their ability seems a bit circular to me, but that's pretty much what's happening in this case.
