Not really.

John, for the record, I agree with much (not all) of what you have to say here at UT. As far as .NET is concerned, I am real excited about VB.NET and have already built a web-based prototype of an on-line reporting system using VB.Net, VFP and SQL Server. VFP is used to do all the grunt work in the middle - taking loosely formatted ACSII text report files from the mainframe, parsing the contents and stuffing the transactions into SQL Server.

Having devoured about 10 books in teaching myself VB6 and SQL Server over the last 18 months or so (encouraged to do so in part after reading a few threads in which you participated in at that time) - coupled with my experience using VFP - I think the learning curve will be minimal. In fact some of the changes in VB.Net compared to VB6 seem to resemble the VFP way of doing things.
