<so I had to use a VB dll to do this. Try the same code in VB and see what happens? But I'm not sure I understand exactly what you are experiencing?!>>
Thanks again....I'll try this out if I can get a few moments free.
The problems stems from the fact that my colleague is using remote views to get his data into the oracle server and I am using ADO. For him to get the data into oracle he places the binary file into a general field and then updates the server. The general fields stores more than the binary object though, so I have to either strip out that information or find another way to get the information into oracle.
I'm going to do some tests using VFP to SQL server and then SQL server to VB using these general fields and see if I can sort out exactly what happening.
You wouldn't happen to know how I can get a ref type cursor out of a package procedure and into an ADO recordset? I've been trying for ages using VB and VFP with no joy.
Thanks for the help..
Pablo
