FWIW, i've been using the report designer since fpw26, and also all versions of VFP with all service packs, as well as VFP7, with SP1. I've never had a GPF just for using the designer. I remember running into a GPF when printing in a workstation where the Windows printer spooler was defective, maybe you should check your printer driver, or try to uninstall and re-install your printer.
Does the GPF appear only in VFP report designer, or can you see it in other parts of VFP or other programs? Does it happen right when you open the designer, or after working with it, or when running the report?
Also, you can achieve quite powerful reports with the 'limited' report writer, and although i have Crystal Reports, i barely found the need, in my short 15 years of programming history, to use it in my VFP apps. It is, of course, a zillion times more sophisticated than the VFP report writer, but the implementation, specially in distributed apps, is not so easy...
Cheers,
Jaime
>I've just had a very unpleasant two hours trying to write a very very simple report that would have taken me ten minutes to do in Access. However I was treated to a veritable fireworks display of GPF's and blank screens (yes I even got a dead black screen..no message..just dead).

>It did it anywhere, anyhow. Put a label on...GPF...minimise the window...GPF. It was mad. Is this normal behaviour??? Most of the messages started with C00005 and then gave me the usual 'Your application has just blown up' message.

>Also, can anyone tell me why the report writer is so limited. Does everyone just go and use Crystal or some other report writer. Just curious.

Why do programs stop working correctly as soon as you leave the Fox?
