No problem! I certainly understand deadlines and sometimes waiting for an answer ends up being too late. That's one of the reasons I'm writing the Report Writer book. I want to help others understand the Report Writer so they don't fight it so much .. or worse .. lose the battle. It really is powerful once you learn what goes on inside and how to make that work to your advantage.

>When I started out, my intention was to put three groups on the report, each with their own data in them, and then just hack the .frx to change what order the groups appeared in. The reason for this is that the user wants to change the sort order of the report, which affects how the groups are ordered. Since posting my original question, though, I've continued working on it and am far enough towards having it work with three reports that it would be more work to go backwards.

>That's the trouble with posting a question to a problem I'm actively working on. Many times the solution to the original problem comes after I've already started a work-around. :) Still, I learned how VFP figures the groups out, and learning something new is never a waste.

>Thanks for the offer of trying to figure it out. I do appreciate it, but I'm really need to get this done, so I'm going to keep going in the direction I've started.

>>Is the only thing different about the reports the expression in the data groups? Give me a little more information and maybe I can help you figure out how to use the one report you have instead of making three. It's worth a shot :-)
