The same thing can happen running DOS apps in NT and W2K. I don't have XP...

Have you tried to run the program under COMMAND.COM instead of CMD.EXE? I don't even know if it exists in XP, but to test it go to START/RUN, and type COMMAND.COM (and hit enter). If you aren't full screen, hit ALT-ENTER. Then run the DOS program, and see what happens...
