Hi all,

Several recent postings mention Windows GUI guidelines which, I'm sure many will agree, have their place. Especially in a corporate environment. However, I would think that many businesses are looking for new apps that stand-out, or sometimes display their corporate branding, color schemes, etc. A project I'm currently working on has requests for a bit of a facelift.

I would be interested to hear what other developers see their clients, bosses, users, etc. asking for. We all know that skins and themes have been around for some time, and it almost looks like MS is changing gears a bit and embracing that even moreso with Windows XP. What do you do? Do you break from the MS standards and try something new, or do you hold to the guidelines?
