We use FoxPro DOS 2.6a on a NT4 Server linked to about 25 users.

Lately, we began to experience more and more problems related to File Locks. Some files could not even be opened. We also had several files that would give the error message "file access denied" doing a MODI COMM filename - without reason - nobody else was using the 'denied' file.

You can all imagine the nightmare having 25 users trying to work in such a mess! Somedays were better than others but at the end of most days it was impossible to work without a super slowdown everywhere.
We seached for all kind of solutions.

The problem was temporary solved - for a while - by restarting the Server.

Untill someone remembered having installed OUTLOOK XP on his station a few days before the beginning of the problems. Since it was not installed on the Server, most of us thought that could not affect the network.

But since we were out of other solutions, we decided to remove OUTLOOK XP from the station - AND IT WORKED!! No more locking or "file access denied" problems.

I just hope this message can be useful to someone else.
