Glad you found it. I never would have thought to try that. If it's reproducible (i.e. it would happen again if you reinstalled Outlook XP) Microsoft might be interested in knowing about it.
Yes, I thought SHARE was a red herring. It was only needed up to Windows 3.x on DOS. Any later version loads a VxD (VSHARE) which accomplishes the same thing.
