Thanks for trying...I'm stumped and it's killing me.

>Definitely NOT a VFP problem. I just realized my laptop was not yet upgraded to SP1. I tried just as you describe below, SET DEFA TO H:(network drive letter), SET PATH TO C:. USE \mydir\mytable works as does USE mydir\mytable. This is consistent on VFP7 and VFP7 SP1, on two different machines on the same network. I also tried two variations of your example, one with the \mydir directory on the local hard drive and one with it on the network drive, just to make sure. I am simply unable to duplicate this error.
