Because I want to understand why people think VFP getting mentioned, whether it is a central part of an article or as an aside is a good thing in it of itself..

Poll people outside the VFP community and ask them questions about the product. For a good many, you will have to start with 'Visual FoxPro is..."

Outside the community, VFP does not have the brand recognition you think it has...

Also, creating a brand is not necessarily part of all marketing efforts. For example, MS will promote VB - but they don't want VB to become a brand. Rather, VS is the brand.

Creating a brand may very well be the single most difficult thing to accomplish in the marketing world.

Every brand is a product, but not every product is a brand...
