>>>Thanks Tom. I live three blocks from a park and ride lot and my main freeway to the office is expected to be one of the traffic bottlenecks.
>>>
>>>But then, they also predicted bad traffic for both Atlanta and LA games and that never happened, so there is hope.

>>The L.A. Olympics was strange. Many companies were closed during the events to reduce freeway traffic. We were visiting relatives and found that hard to believe! There were announcements on television what companies were closed and there were a large number. I must say traffic on L.A. freeways did not seem any different - it was screwed up as usual. Too much of anything is never good!

>I was living in LA during the '84 LA Olympics, and it seemed to me the traffic problem not only did not materialize, but was actually better. I remember thinking that everyone was so worried about getting on the freeways during that time, that they stayed home as much as possible! I also remember we were all so impressed with Peter Ueberoth's (sp?) great organization skills.

Pete;

I was married in San Angelo, at Goodfellow Air Force Base. I got transfered from Security Service to Head Quarters 10 Air Force, where I became "The Air Force Inspector of Inspectors". I got to inspect the job the inspectors did and traveled to many areas of the United States. Some places were very rough but someone would always say, "If you thing this is bad, wait till you see ...."! They were right, too! There was always somewhere where things were worse. In fact some places I saw I am sure God would never visit! :)

I tell people I am fourth generation San Franciscan. Members of my family arrived and lived in San Francisco while it was called Yerba Buena. When I was a kid there were 4.5 million people living in California. Today, I have that many on my block! :) Now if I could just convince 30 million people to go back where they came from I would be happy! :) Any takers?

Tom
