Source Safe is as good as any, but others are:

www.thensle.de (FreeVCS)
http://aegis.sourceforge.net (Aegis)
www.starbase.com (StarTeam?)
www.softlabna.com
www.qumasoft.com (QVCS)
www.qsc.co.uk (TeamCoherance)
http://prcs.sourceforge.net (PRCS)
www.perforce.com (Perforce)
www.mks.com
www.merant.com/pvcs
www.araxis.com/merge/scm_integration.html
www.cvsgui.org/ (WinCVS)
www.cvshome.org/index.html
www.componentsoftware.com/csrcs/

I did look at one of the free ones once that tied in with Windows Explorer,
and this looked pretty good, but as we already had Source Safe...

Because of the daft fact that program code is stored in tables,
_and_ doing a build/compile will change the object code stored there,
comparing scx/vcx files for differences is a pain. The only product I'm aware of for this is IAS FoxTrak (see ad on UT main page)
www.iasadvance.com/
