I have used CASL for a couple of projects, and I have found the IDE very intuitive and convenient. the language resembles Pascal, in that function (procedure) declarations must be stubbed in before the formal code, no big problem just a little different from what we are accustomed to. Data handling is good still not anywhere as powerful as VFP but you have a single key tables which can be navigated by top bottom, next last, seek. You can implement your own secondary indexes by creating "key tables" which are generated from the primary table. Full color is supported for both Graphic and text. Graphic refresh is somewhat sluggish therefore I would not use this product for interactive gaming, however it is quite snappy enough for data applications.
The system is well supported, and frequently updated. There are a couple of web sites devoted to CASL which provide peer support.
In summary I found the system workable, stable, but would not use this system for gaming.
