>Can anyone recommend a good backup software package for Linux, specifically Mandrake or Red Hat? We have been using Backup Exec on NT, and we're ready to chunk it. You would think when they designed backup software, they would make it reliable. Go figure. We need a package that can backup Windows workstations over SAMBA or by some other means, such as a workstation agent.

There is always tar! ;-)

Actually, you can use tar, even to span across CD disks.

But, the 'creme de la creme' of Linux backup utilities is BRU-Pro.

Here is a website which lists over 40 backup utilities, some GNU, some for $$$.
Take your pick: http://www.linux.org/apps/all/Administration/Backup.html

Enjoy!
