I look at other developers as a part of my network. If anyone knows of or needs a job we help each other. This works well and our user group is a great source of employment news. We have one person that takes care of information from employeers in need of developers and developers looking for work. This is the Silicon Valley Users Group in San Jose. The San Francisco VFP group does the same thing. I am not sure how the rest of the country is but we help each other all the time.
