There was a time on compuserve when objective and rational discussions could take place without the worry of being labeled anti PC. One of my favorite people of all time in this community was Jeff Winchell. That guy was smart and told it like it was. I was on the receiving end of one of his tirades. <<

I was on the receiving end of one of his tirades after pointing out some error on his part. His personal attacks and misrepresentation was so embarrassing that the head of the X3J19 (xBase) committee (we were both members) sent a message basically telling him to cool it.

He would still drop my name into his personal attacks even months thereafter.

Jeff appeared to be the one behind the "Xbase is dead" article in Information Week in 1995. He was the one person quoted by name as an Xbase user. Needless to say his remarks weren't all that positive. Nor were they accurate...

He's ranted about MSFT for years. Later on, he worked for MSFT. Oops!
