tested this code under my VFP7, J: is mapped to a Server (running Win2K) Directory:

SET DEFAULT TO J:\ZlatevWork
SET PATH TO C:
USE \temp\test.dbf && opens that what I need C:\temp\test.dbf

As I see you have spaces(?) between the slashes and the folder names. Is this the situation in your code?
