I do not see a correlation in your statement about VFP connectivity to Oracle, SQL Server, etc., and VB 5 beginning to take business away from VFP 5.0. This powerful feature is a great reason VFP is a solution for Client/Server applications.

I am for cross-training because (these days) developers usually need more than 1 tool for application development, especially web application development. I am sure Michel can vouch for that since the UT is a combination of many tools including VFP.
