Tracy,

Using my LNKFILES.dll
DECLARE INTEGER SetLinkDescription IN LNKFILES.DLL;
  INTEGER hWnd, STRING @lpszLinkName, STRING @lpszPath
* lclinkname is the path and filename of the shortcut link
* lcdescription represents the description you'll see
? SetLinkDescription(0, @lclinkname, @lcdescription) && Returns 1 on success
Using the WSH
oShell = CREATEOBJECT("WScript.Shell")
* Get a reference to an existing shortcut or create a new one
* lclinkname is the path and filename of the shortcut link
oLink = oShell.CreateShortcut(lclinkname)
oLink.Description = lcdescription
oLink.Save
