Hi everybody,
I'd like to hear a professional opinion about how company may proceed in contact with the original developer (contractor) on fixing bugs in his/her software.
To be more specific:
We have several general applications developed for our company by one developer (contractor). Lately the company was cutting its expencies on the project, so this developer was put out of picture (for my regret, BTW). Now I identified few bugs in the software. These bugs are minor and not cruicial, but still need to be fixed. For the original developer fixing of those bugs may take ~3h. For other developers this time may be trippled.
My question is: can we ask the original developer to fix those bugs free of charge (or by some lower rate)? What's the general contracts policy with dealing with bugs?
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
If it's not broken, fix it until it is.
