>>We have several general applications developed for our company by one developer (contractor). Lately the company was cutting its expencies on the project, so this developer was put out of picture (for my regret, BTW). Now I identified few bugs in the software. These bugs are minor and not cruicial, but still need to be fixed. For the original developer fixing of those bugs may take ~3h. For other developers this time may be trippled.

Actually, it's not what we have here. The applications were developed about 2 years ago and they function just fine. However, I found couple of little problems with them. I also have a long list of enhancements, which would be desirable. Unfortunately, I doubt, the company is going to proceed on the enhancements. Anyway, as I said, there are few minor bugs in them as well. Just before suggesting to contact the developer, I want to understand, will it cost something or not for the company. Basically, I can fix these problems by myself, but currently those projects under another developer's supervision, and this developer doesn't have time to fix those little things...
If it's not broken, fix it until it is.
