Hi Kevin,

>1.) Are they from the same company?

Yes. Both are sold by XiTech in the UK. www.xitech.co.uk

>2.) Does konxise both compress and encrypt?

Effectively yes. In the process of using a propriety compression you end up effectively encrypting the application and thereby making it more difficult to decompile. To a purist cryptogrpher this is perhaps not a true definition of encryption.

>3.) If I get konxise, do I need refox too? Or is refox just if I want to decomplie my code?

You do not need both. ReFox will decompile a VFP application provided the application has not been "protected" either by ReFox, KONxiSE, or some other protection program. ReFox also provides a level of protection against decompilers including ReFox itself but because ReFox has been around a long time people have found ways to decompile even ReFox "protected" apps.

KONxiSE is the new offering from XiTech to aid VFP developers to protect their IP. To give you an idea ReFox is still only available as a DOS program. Also, KONxiSE is completely self contained and does not require modification of the VFP dll files or for you to supply any other files.

>4.) What was the approximate compression ratio of konxise?

Compression ratios depend on how much compressible source code you have in your app. The smaller the app the less compression. Larger apps with many forms can compress up to 70%, perhaps more.
