I'm kind of butting in on a thread here but I was just about to ask a question that I believe has to do with this thraed and I didn't want to waste people's time with a new one if that was the case. I'm moving an app from Access 97 to SQL 2000. In the old code I would use the .addnew method and then obtain the newly assigned autonumberID. In SQL I guess (as I can somewhat see from this thread) that you can get the newly assigned ID without having to use the AddNew method to retrieve it (I just want to use an INSERT). So at this point I'm not sure how to retrieve it.

If I should open this in a new thraed jut let me know; just thought it seemed like what you gents were talking about. Thanks.
