Databases,Tables, Views, Indexing and SQL syntax
Unfortunately, we realized too late that VFP can hanlde only 255 fields in a table. Our old clipper program uses databases that can go upto 1000 fields. If possible we would not like to split the databases. Is there any other way out, so that we can get VFP to recognize databases with 1000 fields. Our whole point to switch to VFP was that we would not have to mess around with the code too much as it has been running smoothly for the last 12 years or so. But with this field limitation in VFP the whole code and the structure of our existing client's databases will have to be changed.
I do not wish to be unkind or facetious here, but if you need more than 255 fields in a table, you need a new data design. If you want the old Clipper app to run as is with no redesign, why are you migrating it? What is the benefit?
Just curoious...
