In addition to what has been said, take a look on the microsoft site, for the application .hta .
Basically its your html file but you change the extinsion to .hta for hypertext application.
That is what more autoruns are running these days, (not relying on the default browser) which may or may not be IE. .hta is in fact a subset of the IE controls.
