I tried cross-country skiing last winter ... first time ever. It was pretty different than downhill and I wasn't very good at it, but I think it was lack of practice and being out of shape that caused most of the problems (and maybe because I'm an old fart now? <g>). I haven't done any cross-country yet this winter ... we haven't had that much snow here.
Our local cable station does not broadcast HDTV, so I doubt if we'll bother hooking up cable just for the Olympics.

>>I'd love to go skiing in Utah ... so far, even though I've lived out west since '94, I still have not managed to get out skiing here. I've only skied back East (and that was back in the late '70's ... I've probably forgotten how) and I understand that skiing powder is waaaaay different than what I was used to skiing.

>If you ever get out here to do it, let me know. Powder skiing is different, but there are lots of groomed runs. I didn't ski for 15 years. Two years ago I bought all new equipment and got back into it. I'm surprised how quickly I picked it up again.

>>We probably won't watch much of the Olympics (I know, very un-American!) ... we don't watch TV (no cable, only use the HDTV for DVD movies).

>Well.. much of it will be broadcast in HDTV, if you can get it.
