We've been experiencing a multitude of problems with the timer control that ships with Visual Studio. It will stop firing on the interval its assigned to and only fire sporadically, much later than its supposed to. The intervals between firing events differ each time. The timer is used in an application that has no user interaction except to start it and shut it down.

We started using a timer wrapped up in an fll and that cured the problem on Win98 but the anomoly still occurs on WinNT and Win2k. It will often stop firing at all. Has anyone experienced this sort of situation? Any hints on how to resolve this would be appreciated.
