My point has always been that semantic technical differences are largely irrelevant. One could advance many arguments that VFP was technically superior. And yet, VFP is largely shunned by the world...

FWIW, I think that there is a practical difference between the standard langauge and the proprietary one when looking to maximize your return on investment in the langauge you choose.

You would need to clarify and flesh this out a bit. Could you substantively defend this point? In other words, could you support the thesis that going with C# as opposed to a different CLR langauge that your ROI is "maximized"?
